I really want to start dyeing yarns

The issue is I have no raw yarn… I have plenty to dye it with though…

Start with ‘recycled’ thrift-store sweaters. Find one that is at least 50% wool, light in color, and look at the seams - the key is to pick one that is put together from knitted pieces (not cut out of knitted cloth). You can get a lot of wool for a little money and you’ll not fuss so much if the results are less than perfect. Have fun!
